The Free Story Magazine was initiated by Anton Pansegrouw in December 2018 and the retired Professor Gert van Jaarsveld joined in shortly afterwards as associate. Gert does all the editing and Anton handles the blog and publishing. At this stage, Anton only publishes at Amazon Kindle and in the blog but is considering other options as well in the future.

We are neither a Vanity nor a Traditional publisher but offers the author a unique model. The copyright remains yours and you can deal with your work as you please. We only want the right to publish it also and to share the earnings evenly with you. We are extremely flexible as far as genres are concerned because we like variety. Thus far, we have inter alia published crime, historical fiction, romance, poetry and spiritual work. Off course, we would like to publish quality work that will attract readers and that will not take Professor Gert van Jaarsveld ages to edit. So, do a lot of self-editing before submitting.

Our model is simple.

The first half of your professionally edited book is published on our blog with links to your eBook and Paperback at Amazon Kindle where it also can be read in full for free. As author, you are given the opportunity to advertise yourself and your books permanently in our blog at the link: “About our authors”.

Author’s share = 50% of book payouts (pages red at Amazon Kindle & book sales)

(Affiliated income is also a possibility in the future from blog pages viewed)

Stories fund used for: Expenses + Promotions + Services

Services:

First priority is to cover all expenses. Once enough funds we can cover paid promotions. Only if we have left over income after paid promotions we shall cover services. We are providing a free service at this stage. Our expenses are only bank services. We are using our own personal data at this stage.

Editor & Translator (Gert van Jaarsveld) = 50% of service fee

Publisher (Anton Pansegrouw) = 50% of service fee

We are kicking off this model with gusto in June 2022 with high hopes that we can generate earnings for our authors. We are revamping our blog to attract more visitors to expose our author’s books. Thus far, we have cultivated little advertising options but are now planning to use profits already made carefully and systematically to boost our total income and make our model financially attractive for our authors. Our motto is: unity is strength, and we look upon our authors as family. All knowledge acquired will be shared with our authors so that we as a team become stronger. Our authors will get a monthly report so that everyone in the team can analyze the results of our endeavors and help us planning the road ahead.
